Multiple Modes of Learning
The study modules are built on learning elements that can be classified into roughly five categories:
Examinations and essays. Each MBA program includes an extensive set of readings. The aim is to give the participants an up-to-date general knowledge of the included subjects. This forms a solid platform on which the rest of the elements can be firmly built on.
Seminars and workshops. Each of the core study modules includes between 2 and 4 days of contact teaching. This are organized as intensive 2-day seminars in locations that provide an inspiring learning atmosphere. Instructed by top educators, the seminars deliver in-depth insights in to their subjects with a strong orientation to business practice.
Assignments and student projects. The seminars are typically accompanied with case studies and related group exercises completed during the seminar. Additionally, each module features an assignment that is completed on the participants’ own time and reported in the written form. The larger student projects, Project Papers and MBA Thesis, bring together all the competence acquired during the whole program. The emphasis is on the application of the acquired knowledge on the real-life business of the participants’ organizations.
International Seminars. All TKK MBA programs include 1 to 2 international seminars. These seminars are in-depth, one-week workshops that go well into specific topics and address related managerial challenges. The abroad modules are typically arranged in the proximity of top international business schools. The most appreciated seminars are Strategic Finance in Boston, USA and Innovative Strategies in Palo Alto, USA.
Elective studies. The electives are modules that the students can choose by themselves. There are different options to fill in the elective studies. First, TKK Exececutive School of Business organizes special elective seminars around concurrent topics. Typically, 1 to 2 such elective seminars are arranged per year. Second, the eMBA students can fill in their electives by choosing modules that belong to the full MBA program only. Third, we have a wide array of self-study options, enabling the students to focus on areas of special interest. In some cases, it is also possible to fulfill the electives with earlier study entities that the participants’ have taken before their MBA studies.
